Awake’s co-founder and lead yoga and meditation instructor Dianne Atherton has been guiding Jurgen Klopp’s team through a series of calming yoga sessions amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.
Awake is Liverpool’s new self-development centre based in Old Swan that provides yoga, meditation, breath work and fitness sessions for both adults and children.
Dianne has been guiding the LFC team through weekly yoga sessions via Zoom that aid with mindfulness and wellbeing whilst the players and manager are in lockdown, whilst also helping to preserve morale.
The team has now been reporting to Melwood for “individual sessions, with everyone precaution taken to ensure safety”.
Having practised yoga and meditation for over 15 years and being a veteran in the industry, Dianne has also been providing live yoga sessions through Zoom and Instagram to ensure families and individuals redefine the balance that has been lost during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dianne said:
“Teaching yoga to Liverpool FC has been fantastic. Being given the opportunity to inspire and lead the team through calming, mindful exercises during this difficult time is something I’m incredibly proud of.
“Yoga, meditation and breathwork have many benefits and whilst we’re in lockdown and needing to stay home, it’s the perfect chance to get your yoga mat back out, or begin your journey to practising a calm, positive mindset.”
