The Bentley Liverpool will be hosting a fundraising event on Saturday 18th September to raise vital funds for 8 year-old Joseph Roberts.
Joseph was born with an extremely rare genetic disorder called Muscular Dystrophy Duchenne; the unheard-of disease affects around 3000 boys worldwide.
The disorder is caused by a mutation of the dystrophy located on the X chromosomes which codes the protein dystrophy its breaks down eats and destroys all the muscles in his body. It is not only a life-limiting disease but also terminal as it will eventually reach his lungs and heart, it is the most rapidly aggressive childhood neuromuscular disease.
Joseph has the chance to go to the US to receive critical care and take part in a trial for a treatment that is not yet on the market. In order for him to take part, his family need to raise enough money to travel and pay for his treatment and care.Â
So far Joseph’s family have raised  £25k, of the £50k needed to get him to the US.
Siy Roberts, Joseph’s parent said:
“We are living our worst nightmare having to watch our pride and joy literally deteriorate in front of our eyes. It is heartbreaking to see our once active and bubbly boy struggle with the frustration of not being able to play football or ride his bike in the street with friends, getting him out of bed and moving around takes great effort and causes him excruciating pain. The transformation Jospeh has already gone through is irreversable but there is a chance we can prolong and hopefully save his life.”
The fundraiser event will take place at The Bentley located on Brunswick Street, from 7.00pm.
Tickets are priced at £20.00, please contact Si on 07810 826164.
