After the successful tribute clap for NHS staff, Thursday 2nd April will see the UK Clap for Our Carers – a thank you to all key workers.
Tomorrow at 8.00pm people will have the opportunity to say thank you to all that are taking care of us and keeping the world going during the coronavirus challenge.
The second event has been planned to honour key workers across multiple sectors, including teachers, cleaners, supermarket workers, delivery drivers as well as NHS staff who are working the clock.
People will be encouraged to applaud from their windows, balconies or doors to show their appreciation.
The Clap for Our Carers initiative began last week as a way of publicly recognising the efforts of NHS staff, and was the brainchild of Annemarie Plas, a Dutch yoga teacher living in London.
Annemarie first had the idea after seeing footage of a similar tribute in the Netherlands.
She used social media to spread word of the campaign, with millions of people across the country eventually participating last week. Annemarie has also suggested that the UK continues to clap at 8pm every Thursday throughout the crisis to show continued support for the people working under extremely difficult circumstances.
