This Sunday, September 24, come and experience the magic of music as the Liverpool Philharmonic opens its doors for a day of free live music!
Everyone is welcome to drop in for a series of musical taster sessions throughout the day. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Domingo Hindoyan, will perform music ranging from Bizet’s Carmen to John Williams’ epic Harry Potter film score (doors open at noon, first performance at 1pm).
Domingo Hindoyan and Jade Burns of BBC Radio Merseyside will lead audiences through the music, providing the ideal opportunity to discover a wide range of musical genres while experiencing the full power of the renowned Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the iconic building, meet the team and discover more about Liverpool Philharmonic, while Box Office will be running exclusive, one-day-only ticket offers to selected performances. The bars will be serving delicious refreshments to enjoy while soaking up the atmosphere in the beautiful Art Deco venue. Visitors will also get the chance to experience the next generation of local musicians with a series of pop-up concerts by Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company.
Over in the Music Room, there will be a series of musical takeovers bringing audiences the very best music from near and far. First up, Milap take to the stage with a concert of Indian classical music featuring Jonathan Mayer and Kousic Sen. Liverpool Acoustic then take over with three sets from incredible local acts Mike Ryan, Visions of Albion and Motel Sundown. LUMA Creations showcase their special blend of contemporary Latin American roots music and dance with performances from members of Grupo Luma, the Luma Drummers and dancers from Latin America. Closing the evening is Africa Oyé with musical performances from three fantastic artists from Liverpool and beyond: Nazeem, Felix Ngindu and DJ Soulfultiz.
Doors open from 12:00 and no tickets or advance booking is required. First performances start from 1pm with the final performance closing at 9:30pm. Liverpool Philharmonic’s Open Day promises an unforgettable experience for everyone to come together and celebrate the power and beauty of music.
