VIENNESE CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR

Tchaikovsky’s elegant Nutcracker Suite follows Brahms’ solemn Hungarian Dance No. 5, before Strauss II’s Trisch-Trasch Polka introduces us to the boundless exuberance of the Polish March. Tchaikovsky transports the audience to the magical halls of snowy Tsarist Russia in the concert’s penultimate work, a regal waltz from his ballet Sleeping Beauty. The evening culminates with the famous Blue Danube Waltz, which not only serves as the crowning jewel of a fantastic night’s worth of music, but also confirms Johann Strauss II as the master of the Viennese waltz.
