Everyman & Playhouse bring a feast of fun for all the family

From family favourite books and Disney films to the legendary rock n roll panto, a feast of fun for all the family heads to the Everyman & Playhouse.

This Saturday 1 October is Disney Day at the Playhouse, as REEL Tours presents screenings of two family favourites, Encanto (12 noon) and Hocus Pocus (4.30pm). At Sing-along Encanto, Mirabel will be there in person to welcome you and as you settle in with your popcorn for some witchcraft in Hocus Pocus, you never know the Sanderson Sisters themselves might make an appearance! Come dressed as your favourite character from the movie and you might be in with a chance of winning our best dressed prize. Tickets priced £6.50 are available now at www.everymanplayhouse.com

The Smartest Giant in Town, based on the bestselling book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, is at the Playhouse for a half-term treat from Tuesday 25 to Saturday 29 October. This heart-warming tale about friendship and helping those in need is brought to life in a musical, puppet-filled adventure Little Angel Theatre. Tickets are £10 to £14 and early booking is encouraged, as shows during school holidays are always a sell-out. Book now at www.everymanplayhouse.com

Half-term (24 to 28 October) also sees the return of our popular Drama Week, run by our experienced youth theatre directors. Aimed at 8 to 11 year olds, children will be introduced to a theme for the week and build on it using lots of imagination, storytelling. The week costs £100 per child, with a 10% discount for multiple children from the same family. More information and booking is available at www.everymanplayhouse.com

On Saturday mornings in the Everyman Street Cafe there’s Mini Maestros, an interactive, multi-sensory music session for children and their grown-ups. With percussion, singing and dance, the sessions present an engaging platform for children to explore sound and song whilst learning and having fun! Mini Maestros is run by RISE Music Education CIC, a local collective of professional musicians working to deliver engaging creative arts projects in the community. Sessions are on Saturday mornings at 10.15am and 11.15am (until 15 October) and tickets are £10. Booking and further information is available at www.risemusiceducation.com/mini-maestros

The legendary Everyman rock ‘n’ roll panto is always a “must-see” for families of all ages, from 3 to 93 (and older!). This year’s Red Riding Hood opens on Friday 25 November until Saturday 14 January and there’s already limited availability for some performances. As ever, there will be outlandish and sparkling costumes, plenty of plot twists and surprises, Red Riding Hood will be packed full of musical hits performed by a company of supremely talented actor musicians. Booking opens at www.everymanplayhouse.com

Nathan Powell, Associate Director for the Everyman and Playhouse said:

“It’s really important to us to find different ways to welcome children and their families into our theatres. The different spaces we have offer a wealth of creative opportunities for children to explore, play and enjoy music and stories. It’s a real joy to see how magical it can be for the children (and often the grown ups), many who are visiting for the first time. A great reminder of why I love my job.”
