Exchange Flags set to launch an open-air food market this month

This month Exchange Flags will be welcoming food operators and restaurants from the local area to use their stunning open-air square for a free, weekly, pop-up, food event!

The event will be the first foodie event in Liverpool since the lockdown and will run from 18th June.

Running Thursday through to Saturday from 12pm -7pm, the square will host a regularly changing selection of some of the cities tastiest food operators.

Exchange Flags is already home to city-staple Fazenda and new arrival El Gato Negro which opened its doors last Summer. And alongside these, Liverpool restaurants Skaus and Carlisi as well as tons of street food operators have signed up to serve up at the event throughout the next two months.

Exchange Flags has one of the largest outdoor spaces in the city centre, so the owners are keen to put it to good use and support restaurants which don’t have that space. Having a great selection of different food in one place means everyone in the family or household can have something different and as people slowly return back to work, boring packed lunches will be staying at home and Liverpool’s workforce can dine out in style.

“Liverpool’s dining scene has evolved so much in the past couple of years and the city now has some amazing restaurants and street food”

says Sarah Syvret, Asset Manager at Exchange Flags.

“This Foodie event has been created to support Liverpool’s hospitality sector and will see some of the best food from the city and beyond to the square. We are really excited to be getting some life back into the city post the lockdown and hosting this fantastic event at Exchange Flags – I hope it is welcomed by all!”

The health and safety of visitors to Exchange Flags is paramount, and the event will be carefully managed to ensure that social distancing is upheld. Visitors should ideally bring their own face masks and (as per government guidelines) if you’re not feeling well, please stay home and self-isolate.

Hand sanitiser will be available to use for all visitors.

Initially the food will be take-out only, but as the lockdown restrictions are relaxed by the government, Exchange Flags will have a socially-distanced seating area where people can sit outside and enjoy the Summer sunshine whilst eating some delicious food.
