Exploring Liverpool – A Blog by Chloe Harrington & Shaunna Grace

Liverpool, the city of culture. You can’t explore the whole city in just a day, there’s too much to do, but we tried our best anyway.

The team at Margaritas (a new Miami styled martini bar) kindly invited us down to their launch night, we saw this as a perfect opportunity to travel down early and check the city out.

We booked an apartment close to the docks on air bnb, it was super cheap and so ideal because we were basically in the centre of everything. Obviously, the docks were within walking distance, so as soon as we checked into our apartment, we headed out for some food and drink.

There was so many restaurants to choose from, so many different styles, from Miller and Carter to Gusto. What we really fancied though, was some good old pub grub, so we headed into The Pumphouse.

For a Thursday afternoon, it was pretty packed inside which indicates that this is probably a very popular spot. The food was spot on, so much variety, atmosphere was great and on top of that, I got a cheeky discount because I work at the same chain back in Birmingham so that was a bonus.

We explored the docks for a while, it was so unlike any other city we’ve ever been to in the UK, it kinda felt like a really cute seaside town.

We managed to check out the Merseyside Maritime Museum and being a huge fan of the Titanic, this amazed me. There’s so much history and it holds a lot of valuables including the only surviving first class ticket. It’s free entry but I personally would’ve paid good money to have been able to explore this place.

I think it’s compulsory to visit The Cavern Club even if you’re not a fan of the Beatles (which is impossible right)? We jumped into an Uber which took us about 5 mins, everything was so complex that it was very easy to travel to the different sights. Most amazing thing about The Cavern is that it’s open all day from 10am until early hours of the morning. There’s always some sort of entertainment on, it’s very dim lit and old school, the vibe is incredible. I stood there for about half an hour studying the pics on the wall and seeing all the stars that have performed there in the past.

Unfortunately, we ran out of time because we were having so much fun, time slipped away and it was ready to go back to the apartment to prepare for the launch party which we have written a full blog about on our website and will be posting very soon. We are planning our trip back to Liverpool ASAP but this time we want to spend a few more days there so we can cover everything. We cannot wait to return.
