SERIES TWO – EDITION TWENTY
In the latest edition of our ‘Faces behind the Business’ series, we caught up with Jessica Green, aged 25, owner of The Cookie. Doh; an online bakery offering premium NYC cookies.
When did you first get into the industry?
After exhausting zoom quizzes, 5k’s and banana breads during the early months of lockdown, I thought…why can’t I start my own business? Inspired by my love of New York City and all of the amazing sweet treats that come from the Big Apple, I decided to set-up The Cookie Doh and the rest as they say is history.
When did you start The Cookie. Doh and what is your job role?
The founder and sole baker at The Cookie Doh, I baked my first batch of cookie dough in early November 2020 and have seen the business grow beyond belief in under a year, with our business having a stall at Liverpool’s Christmas markets at Invisible Wind Factory, meeting hundreds of new customers along the way and continuing to spread the Cookie love as we go!
What is Lip Couture’s ethos?
Being local, supporting local and buying local! There are so many fantastic independent businesses in the city and I feel like there’s enough room in Liverpool for us all to collaborate and celebrate each other’s successes. I’m regularly setting myself goals to take The Cookie Doh to the next level and never resting on my laurels or getting comfortable with successes keeps me focused to keep expanding and taking the business forward.
What’s the best bit of advice you could give to anyone looking at working in your line of work?
The best advice I could give anyone is never be afraid to experiment and try new things. I’ve not been scared to introduce new flavours to the menu and the recent launch of The Cookie Lab, has given me the perfect chance to try new concepts before they officially get introduced to the menu.
What do you love most about Liverpool?
The people without a doubt! The support I’ve had throughout the city since launching The Cookie Doh has been truly humbling and I can’t thank everyone enough for their orders, kind words and the support both over social media and face-to-face.
If you could describe your business in 3 words what would they be?
Describing my business in three words is tough, but I’d say – Unique, Delicious and Independent!
