A new study has revealed the most Instagrammable UK beaches, with Formby Beach coming in 8th spot and Durdle Door in Dorset taking the top spot.

The total number of hashtagged posts was calculated by combining the three most popular hashtags for each beach before ranking each destination from most to least Instagrammable.
1. Durdle Door Beach, Dorset – 379,093 hashtagged posts
Durdle Door in Dorset was found to be the most Instagrammable beach in the UK, with a total of 379,093 hashtagged posts on Instagram.
Durdle Door is a UNESCO world heritage site on the Jurassic coast of the UK, located on the Lulworth Estate in South Dorset. The main feature of the beach is the arch formed of natural hard limestone, which has crystal-clear waters surrounding it. Durdle Door has also been used as a filming location for many films, including Dunkirk, World War Z, and Far from the Madding Crowd.
The hashtag #durdledoor was used the most frequently on Instagram, featuring on 324,322 posts, followed by #durdledoorbeach (40,418 posts), and #durdledoordorset (14,353 posts).
2. Camber Sands, Sussex – 125,546 hashtagged posts
Camber Sands in Sussex is the second most Instagrammable beach in the UK, with a total of 125,546 hashtagged posts on Instagram.
Camber Sands is in East Sussex in the village of Camber, near Rye. It is famous for its sand dunes and picturesque views. Camber Sands has also been used as a filming location for many films, including The Theory of Everything and Monuments Men.
The hashtag #cambersands was used the most frequently on Instagram, featuring on 112,630 posts, followed by #cambersandsbeach (12,711 posts), and #cambersandbeach (205 posts).
3. West Wittering Beach, Sussex – 122,031 hashtagged posts
West Wittering Beach in Sussex is the third most Instagrammable UK beach, with a total of 122,031 hashtagged posts on Instagram.
The beach, located in the village of West Wittering in Chichester, is one of the most popular in the UK due to its miles of beautiful sand and views of Chichester Harbour and the South Downs.
The hashtag #westwittering was used the most frequently on Instagram, featuring on 89,425 posts, followed by #westwitteringbeach (31,840 posts), and #westwitteringsbeach (766 posts).
4. Blackpool Beach, Lancashire – 120,092 hashtagged posts
Blackpool Beach in Lancashire is the fourth most Instagrammable UK beach, with a total of 120,092 hashtagged posts on Instagram.
Home to Blackpool Pleasure Beach amusement park, the beach attracts around 20 million visitors per year, and the amusement park is the second most visited attraction in the UK outside of London.
The hashtag #blackpoolpleasurebeach was used the most frequently on Instagram, featuring on 84,424 posts, followed by #blackpoolbeach (32,287 posts), and #blackpoolseafront (3,381 posts).
5. Watergate Bay, Cornwall – 114,778 hashtagged posts
Watergate Bay in Cornwall is the fifth most Instagrammable UK beach, with a total of 114,778 hashtagged posts on Instagram.
Watergate Bay is located in the North of Newquay and is a favourite among surfers, hosting the English National Surfing Championships every year. Watergate Bay also hosts Boardmasters Festival every summer and is one of Cornwall’s best dog-friendly beaches.
The hashtag #watergatebay was used the most frequently on Instagram, featuring on 112,417 posts, followed by #watergatebaybeach (2,179 posts) and #watergatebaycornwall (182 posts).
