The well-known coffee shop in the Italian Quarter, Gran Caffè, is opening its second location in the city centre.

Under the direction of brothers Paolo and Donato Cillo, Gran Café has been providing Williamson Square with its delicious Italian fare for more than a decade.

The business, which was once known as P&D Deli, underwent a makeover to showcase the highest calibre ingredients utilised and the wide range of classic Italian coffees offered there.

Gran Caffè, which means “Great Coffee,” will provide a variety of Italian breakfast fare, such as their daily-made, expertly crafted croissants, which are made by the team of pastry chefs.

Pasticiottos, a wide variety of classic Italian cakes, Sicilian cannoli, pancakes, waffles, and classic croissants with delectable fillings like Nutella, strawberry, and pistachio are also available for guests to enjoy.

There is a menu just for Gran Caffè’s handcrafted gelato, which comes in a variety of flavours. Vegan cakes and gelato are also offered to customers.

In terms of savoury options, customers can indulge in a variety of brunch croissant sandwiches stuffed with delectable Italian fillings, such as classic burrata with beef tomato and parma ham, in addition to their homemade focaccia and sourdough bread.

Freshly squeezed fruit juices, Italian coffees made with beans from the family roastery in Potenza, upscale hot chocolates, teas, milkshakes, and Italian aperitifs are served alongside the menu.

Co-owner Donato Cillo explained:

“After over a decade, it’s now the right time to expand Gran Caffè with our second site in Liverpool city centre. We’re very excited to be opening on Duke Street in the heart of the Ropewalks district, introducing authentic Italian coffee, pastries and gelato to the other side of town.”

Co-owner Paolo Cillo added:

“The Italian Quarter’s Gran Caffè is very popular with guests wanting to try Italian delicacies and classic coffee and we can’t wait to open our doors to our coffee shop on Duke Street to showcase the same high quality produce we’re known for.”

Gran Caffè will open from 8.30am-8.30pm at 78 Duke Street later this month, seating up to 30 people.
