Local restaurant and bar favourite, Hickory’s Smokehouse, in West Kirby is marking their 10th birthday in style by hosting a Southern state-inspired ‘BBQ Fest’ for the whole family on Saturday, April 22nd April.

The popular BBQ restaurant, which burst onto the local food scene back in 2013, has established itself as a firm favourite with locals from Wirral and beyond. Famed for their unique mix of authentic BBQ classics cooked ‘low and slow’, cool cocktails, a family-friendly vibe, and Southern style hospitality, the West Kirby restaurant is now an important part of the local community.

To celebrate their 10th birthday, General Manager Tom Schofield and his team have organised an authentic Hickory’s celebration for the whole community.

Inspired by a recent roadtrip to Austin, Texas, the ‘BBQ Fest’ event is designed to bring a true taste of the Deep South to West Wirral.

Tom said:

“I had the pleasure of heading to Austin last year with 18 others from across Hickory’s. It was an incredible experience and we enjoyed a day at the BBQ Fest in Lockhart. We met pitmasters, tasted loads of barbecue, enjoyed the vibe & were welcomed like old friends. So what better way to celebrate 10 years than bringing a flavour back home for our guests.”

“We’ve got so much planned for the day including live music, a helter-skelter, bourbon tasting & hot sauces to try. And back by popular demand there will be the chance to handle reptiles if you are brave enough!”

The event is open to everyone, from those who have no teeth to those who have false teeth. Kicking off at 12pm the event is free to attend. The restaurant and bar will be open from 10am serving all day until late so the guys recommend booking a table and making a day of it.

Tom continued:

“There really will be something for the whole family and plenty for BBQ fans.”

“We hope there will be a real festival atmosphere and we are looking forward to celebrating with our regulars, neighbours, guests and friends from the local community and beyond. It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our local community for all their support, raising a glass and saying, ‘cheers to the next 10 years’ to everyone who has helped us along the way.”

The event takes place on Saturday 22nd April at Hickory’s Smokehouse, Village Road West Kirby, from midday until 6pm. To find out more, keep an eye on social media, or book a table, please visit the website HERE.
