Hoghton Bottoms – Chorley

Hoghton Bottoms is a woodland walk along the River Darwen, this hidden gem offers beautiful waterfalls as well as plenty of picnic spots.

I think there is a loop trail that you can do which is about 4-5 miles long. We attempted it but it’s poorly signed and pathed so we recommend just walking to the waterfall, enjoy the views and turn back the way you came.

Pictures and videos don’t do it justice, it’s amazing once you get there. Nice easy stroll that you could do with the kids (no prams) and the dogs.

Can be very muddy in parts so boots or old trabs are a must. Also plenty of pubs near by if you wanted to go for food afterwards (Hoghton Arms).
