This October half term, HYPE Merseyside is inviting young people aged 16-17 from Liverpool and Wirral to sign up for free activities funded by the National Citizen Service (NCS).
The Birkenhead-based social enterprise is offering 100 young people the opportunity to get fitter, stronger, and healthier over a five-day programme from Monday, October 23rd, to Friday, October 27th, 2023.
The programme will include workshops on health and wellness, sessions on how to prepare and cook healthy meals, and opportunities to participate in fitness sessions and learn from gym coaches.
Football Coach Education workshops will be delivered by UEFA A-Licence coaches, there will be opportunities to learn about the importance of finding and being positive role models, and there will be an exciting visit to a top Premier League stadium.
The half-term programme also includes social action, which allows young participants to collaborate with local organisations, raise funds for a local cause, and make a difference in their community. Participants will receive free meals throughout the programme, and transportation costs will be covered as well.
NCS provides a variety of experiences to help young people develop their strengths, and over 750,000 people have already participated in their programmes.
Speaking of the funded programme, Matthew Houghton from HYPE Merseyside said:
“We are incredibly grateful to NCS for delivering this fantastic half-term programme. It is a brilliant opportunity for local young people to boost their confidence, learn new skills, build their resilience, and also make new friends.
“There are only 100 places available so we’re advising anyone who is keen to participate to register their interest as soon as possible by completing the form on our website. We’re really excited to meet our participants and encourage them to grow and develop during the programme – it’s going to be a lot of fun!”
