Knowsley Safari offers free mental wellbeing sessions for children across the UK

This Autumn, Knowsley Safari’s free “Mental Health Mondays” livestream sessions will be available to primary school children across the UK on four consecutive Mondays beginning on September 26.

One-hour live interactive sessions inspired by the Wheel of Wellbeing, which focuses on People, Place, Planet, Body, Mind, and Spirit, transform the classroom into a safari for years one to six. The sessions are fun and use the Safari’s animals to provide children with fun and interesting ways to support their mental wellbeing.

Classes who take part will discover how being outdoors can make people feel calmer, how connecting with animals can make us happier and what children can do to look after themselves and the world around them.

Schools all over the UK can take part for free by registering via email at learning@knowsley.com. Once registered a link will be shared for schools to receive the sessions streamed live into their classroom between 10am and 11am, or sessions can be accessed afterwards.

Ellie Hill, Learning Manager, Knowsley Safari, said:

“Back to school is typically a time we should be sensitive to children’s mental wellbeing and with World Mental Health Day being on October 10th, when our third session takes place, it seems an even more fitting time to be running these free sessions.

“We hope Mental Health Mondays helps primary teachers bring some fun and useful tips into the classroom. The events are delivered in real-time by our on-site conservation educators and we look forward to seeing participants interacting with us and each other as the content is delivered. We hope as many schools as possible take advantage of the free sessions.”
