Over the bank holiday weekend, everyday ‘Ledgends,’ as nominated by members of the British public, were projected onto Liverpool’s iconic Royal Albert Dock, to celebrate the launch of Santander’s Edge current account campaign.

On Saturday 4th May at 9pm, Liverpool influencer, Saff McConville, aka @havealaffwithsaff, hosted a live-stream TikTok event to reveal 8 people from across the UK who have been nominated by friends or family and selected by Santander UK.

Nominated for their ‘Ledgendary’ qualities, attributes, achievements or personalities, their profiles were projected onto the 85-metre-wide National Maritime Museum in the heart of the Dock for all to see. Projections being a key theme as featured in the new TV-led campaign for Santander’s Edge current account.

TikTok viewers tuned in to watch the big reveal with viewers and spectators looking on also given the chance to vote for the 9th ‘Ledgend’ live on the night!

Those selected to be projected onto Liverpool’s Albert Dock to celebrate the launch of Santander’s Edge current account campaign, included Hazel Dempsey who was nominated by her daughter because even after two knee replacements, she is still the last one on the dance floor; and David Naylor, nominated by his granddaughter for his loyal support to her sister’s local under 13’s girls football team.

Commenting on the live-stream event and initiative, Dan Sherwood, Director of Marketing, Santander UK, said:

“It was very special to be able to take a moment over the bank holiday weekend to recognise everyday ‘Ledgends’ from across the UK and shine a light on their ‘Ledgendary’ qualities.

“It was impressive to see the winning nominees projected onto Liverpool’s famous Albert Dock. The activity not only created great impact within the picturesque landscape of the Dock and prompted lots of noise online, but it kick-started what is a busy schedule of activity planned to help raise awareness of our Edge current account across the UK. Liverpool is such an iconic city, we wanted to make sure we started the celebrations here in style.”

Liverpool and TikTok ‘Ledgend,’ Saff McConville, added:

“I’m very proud to represent my home city, it’s great to be here today to see all the turn out, celebrate the winners and to connect with my fans who got me where I am today. Spreading love and laughter is all I want to do, and to be part of this amazing Legends campaign with Santander is honestly a dream come true, both personally and professionally.”

Santander UK is thrilled to be celebrating everyday Ledgends in support of the launch of its new campaign. The activity in Liverpool is one element of a larger campaign going live to promote Santander’s Edge current account, including two TV ads which continue the long-running story of the CEOs from the Bank of Antandec and their hapless attempts to run a bank in competition with Santander. The new campaign will run across the UK on TV, video on demand, cinema, radio, out of home posters, social media, digital display, in-branch, email communications and on santander.co.uk.
