Marine Street Social

June 13, 2018

Food Markets are the great new trend that is slowly sweeping across from Europe on to local turf for foodie and drink connoisseurs to indulge in. With the Baltic Market being a massive ever growing hit for social gathering, and the new anticipated Dockside Dining set to launch this Summer at Mann Island, we were glad to see a little gem a stone throws across the other side of the water.

Marine Street Social is located at the stunning Marine Point, New Brighton and when paying a visit, you will not be disappointed. The venue offers something different to the area, not just another pub/grub rendezvous, MSS offers a cool, chilled ambience and an array of delicious food to try as well as a great selection of beers, cocktails and of course new social favourite drink Gin.

When entering the set up as you would find in food market esk style, the seating area of tables and benches is not only a great way to catch up and enjoy conversations with your counterparts, but also a friendly way to meet new people if sharing a table. The interior is spot on trend with the new love of ceiling greenery, flowers and foliage cascade from the ceiling, giving the venue a fresh colourful appearance.

The independent food vendors inside MSS offer some exciting and mouth-watering choices and a wide range of varied food to try and taste. Vendors currently on site are Indian street food favourites Chutney, Japanese specialists IZAKAYA, Smokehouse BBQ Cowfish, Hatch and Marine Street Grill and if it’s a sweet tooth you crave then Yogtime will fulfil your needs.

On our visit we decided after a couple of cold refreshing jars of Coors Light, we felt like some chicken, and tried the Chicken Zinga Burger from vendor Hatch. With a side order of potato fries, the food was great value for money, bonus that you get to order your food and are giving a buzzer to alert you when ready to collect, more drinking time less standing waiting is a plus.  The service was fast and waiting time for food was pretty fast too, win win situation.

Our overall experience at the Marine Street Social was a nice chilled relaxed vibe, being family and pet friendly a great choice whatever your visit maybe. Staff were consistent and eager to help when serving drinks, and the views the place has to offer are also second to none, with the beautiful Waterfront and the backdrop of the city in full view.  We look forward to returning in the Summer months to try out the roof top terrace and bar, and stay that little bit later to get involved in the bands and live music the place has to offer. All in all we would recommend a visit to this tranquil abode on your next visit to New Brighton.
