New national campaign highlighting Liverpool’s impressive Autumn/Winter events programme launches

Marketing Liverpool launch new national campaign to highlight Liverpool City Region’s impressive events programme for the upcoming autumn and winter months. 

Running throughout October and November, ‘The Autumn/Winter Collection’ will bring together and showcase the top events taking place in the city and across the region. With so much to see and do across this period, the campaign encourages visitors to not just visit for the day, but extend their stay to experience as much as they can alongside the rest of the city region’s offerings.  

The campaign was launched on outdoor screens at London Euston Station and Manchester Piccadilly Station and accompanies digital outdoor advertising, a paid social media campaign and a suite of graphics targeting these cities alongside Birmingham and Leeds. Highlights from The Autumn/ Winter Collection include:

River of Light

21 October – 6 November

River of Light is a free to visit outdoor illuminated gallery featuring ten artworks of light and sound from local, national and international artists. Running across a 2km loop along Liverpool’s Waterfront for seventeen nights, some pieces are new to Liverpool whilst others are never-seen before artworks. The theme for this year is ‘Unexpected Twist’ which links in to the World Gymnastics Championships Liverpool taking place at the same time in the city.

The World Gymnastics Championships Liverpool 2022

29 October – 6 November

The World Gymnastics Championships Liverpool is heading to the M&S Bank Arena for one of the biggest sporting events of the year. Watch as hundreds of world-class gymnasts from around the world go head-to-head over nine action packed days at this Olympic qualifying event.

The Turner Prize at Tate Liverpool

20 October 2022 – 19 March 2023

The Turner Prize is returning to Liverpool for the first time in 15 years this October. Taking place at Tate Liverpool, the free exhibition will showcase work by the four nominated artists, Heather Phillipson, Ingrid Pollard, Veronica Ryan and Sin Wai Kin, with the winner being announced at a ceremony held in December. One of the world’s best-known prizes for the visual arts, the Turner Prize aims to promote public debate around new developments in contemporary British art.

Our Place In Space

14 October – 6 November 2022

Our Place In Space is a 8.1km scale trail of our solar system that will animate Liverpool’s City Centre with scale models of the planets. Starting with the Sun on Church Street, make your way along the city’s iconic waterfront and Trans Pennine Trail before finishing in Otterspool where Pluto awaits.

Rugby League World Cup

15 October – 19 November

The Rugby League World Cup is heading to the North West with Liverpool playing a key role during the tournament by providing training bases for Italy and Tonga. With games taking place in the Totally Wicked Stadium at St Helens, Liverpool is the perfect location to stay to take in all the action.

Alongside the top events, the majority of which are free to visit, there’s also a range of brand new and exciting activities taking place across the city region. Shakespeare North Playhouse in Prescot opened their doors in the summer and has a great events programme planned for the autumn. Whilst National Museums Liverpool are launching brand new exhibitions ‘Pure Brilliance: The Boodles Story’ at the Lady Lever Art Gallery and ‘Art of The Terraces’ at the Walker Art Gallery during this period. 

And for new openings Wirral will see Eureka! Science and Discovery centre open their doors in November and Radisson RED hotel will welcome guests this autumn too. For hospitality, the city welcomes restaurants Hawksmoor and Albert’s Schloss to the already vibrant food and drink scene.

From world-class sporting events and art competitions to outdoor light trails and events across the city region, there is so much going on for locals and visitors to enjoy.
