Comedy legend Paul Smith has announced plans to stage his biggest show to date in his home city of Liverpool.
On Thursday, June 20, a very special 12,000-capacity open-air show for On the Waterfront presents Paul Smith will take place at Liverpool’s iconic Pier Head. This announcement comes right after several sold-out arena shows, including those at London’s Wembley Arena and Liverpool’s M&S.
The fact that he was just named Liverpool’s Comedian of the Year is hardly surprising to those who have seen his live or on-screen performances, or his millions of social media followers. Working together with Hot Water Comedy, the leading comedy promoter in the UK, Paul developed his talents as resident MC there and quickly became their most valued asset. His trademark is his unique charm and cheeky wit, which he combines with a razor-sharp perspective on audience interactions that he delivers in a quintessential scouse manner, making him one of the most sought-after comedians in the country.
Some of the UK’s most promising comedic talents and future stars from the Hot Water Comedy roster will be joining him for the action-packed musical and entertainment event. Liverpool’s first-ever open-air comedy festival is sure to be a hilarious and unforgettable occasion.
Paul Smith is the latest headliner to be announced for this summers On the Waterfront series of shows, and will be its first foray into comedy. Now in its third year, it has become a firm fixture in the festival calendar, with previous performances coming from the likes of Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Jamie Webster, The Coral, James and Camelphat to name a few.
