Liverpool came from behind to beat Serie A league leaders AC Milan 2-1 at the San Siro with goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi.

Fikayo Tomori opened the scoring from a corner to give AC Milan hope that they could reach the knockout stages.

However, that hope slowly diminished as in the ten minutes before half-time Salah scored a rebound to equalise.

In the 56th minute Origi got the winner thanks to Mike Maignan again parrying an effort into danger this time from Sadio Mane.

Origi placed the ball impeccably with his head to score in back-to-back games.

The win meant that Liverpool joined an illustrious list of teams that have won all of their group games and they are the first English side to join that list.

Six games six wins, 17 scored with only six conceded.

Flawless.

Player ratings:

Alisson Becker: 7

He couldn’t keep a clean sheet in 150th appearances for The Reds as he punched the ball instinctively into Tomori’s path from the corner. Not his fault as the corner should have been dealt with. Made an outstanding save to deny Frank Kessie in the second half.

Neco Williams: 7

Linked up with Salah well and didn’t stop running all game. Again, impressed which he has done all season when given the chance.

Ibrahim Konate: 7.5

Done brilliantly to stop Ibrahimovic causing any problems. Strength and pace evident on many occasions.

Nathaniel Phillips: 8 (MOTM)

Looked assured on the ball and was spraying some expertly placed passes. Great for him to be given the pleasure to play at the San Siro after his efforts last season. Turned two Milan players in his own box as well. A great night for him.

Kostas Tsimikas: 6

Didn’t really create too much and his delivery from set-pieces wasn’t brilliant. Was never in any defensive trouble.

Tyler Morton: 6.5

Composed on the ball and protected the backline. Another classy performance.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: 7

Exquisite dribbling past Kessie before unleashing a shot that Maignan pushed into Salah for his goal. Kept his good form up.

Takumi Minamino: 5

Let the corner go past him at the near post. Grew into the game looked neat in the middle of the park.

Mohamed Salah: 7.5

Got his customary goal with an instinctive finish from a rebound. Teased Theo Hernandez for the hour he was on the pitch.

Divock Origi: 7.5

Won the match for Liverpool with a lovely header into the top right corner. Had a couple of half chances which were dealt with before that.

Sadio Mane: 7

Done well for the second goal after robbing the ball off Tomori and having a decent shot. Milan couldn’t handle him just like many other sides.

Substitutions:

Naby Keita (Mo Salah 64): 4

Looked a bit rusty after just coming back from injury. Important minutes.

Joe Gomez (Sadio Mane 64): 5

Good to see him back in action after also being out with an injury. Slotted in a at right-back and looked very quick.

Fabinho (Divock Origi 80): 5

Helped see out the game in the last ten minutes.

Max Woltman (Takumi Minamino (90): N/A

Competitive debut for Liverpool. What a place to do it.

Connor Bradley (Neco Williams 90): N/A

Champions League debut for the club.
