Five losses at Anfield on the bounce for the first time in Liverpool’s history.
Four months of woeful performances and woeful results.
The worst thing about it for supporters is there does not seem to be any fight left in the players, they seem mentally and physically drained.
Every Liverpool fan would probably say that Fulham are the favourites for this game which epitomises how badly the Premier League champions have fallen.
Then the cherry on top for all the disappointment is the fact there is another injury at centre back.
What a surprise.
Ozan Kabak is ruled out for the game which keeps the trend going of if you play centre back for Liverpool you will get injured.
In his press conference Jurgen Klopp explained who might play at the back as he said: “Nat will be ready and Ben as well. It’s not easy in our situation, we brought him in and he’s had to adapt.
“He’s a really good player. We have to see which decision we make for it. Looks like everyone could be available for Sunday but Ozan.”
So Ben Davies, signed from Preston, could finally get his debut for the Reds and possibly alongside Nat Phillips who has been pretty much faultless every time he has played.
It would be refreshing to see them start alongside together with Fabinho back in midfield, as he has been badly missed in the middle of the park.
Klopp spoke about that saying: “It would be great. We had problem that Nat couldn’t play. We had to make decision. Do we take an inexperienced pairing on the pitch or do we play with Fab?”
He did indeed play with Fabinho but with a ridiculous high line which was exposed at every opportunity.
The pressing from the front didn’t happen which meant there was no sort of advantage to having the high line against one of the quickest strikers in the league in the form of Timo Werner.
That alongside the substitutions, subbing off the Premier League top goal scorer who also created the only two openings in the first half, meant the game was utterly bizarre.
Klopp got it wrong, he needs to get it right but, in all honesty, Liverpool would be lucky to even get Europa League next season at this rate.
It has been that bad.
Whereas Fulham are playing relatively well despite their position in the table but they do need to start picking up wins consistently if they want to get out of the relegation zone.
A win could very much be on the cards for the London side as when you visit Anfield these days it is almost guaranteed for some absurd reason.
No one can work out why it has gone so wrong, injuries have been horrific all season however it is still a good enough team that Klopp has at his disposal so to be playing like they are, there really isn’t an excuse.Supporters feel like they have been watching the same game at Anfield for the past few months, it has to be different on Sunday otherwise it would be the final nail in the coffin for this league campaign.
