Southport has welcomed the dinosaurs to the town centre!
Fifteen magnificent dinosaurs made of bricks are part of Southport BID’s DinoTown. Over 550,000 bricks have been used to construct brickosaur models that are positioned throughout the town centre.
The prehistoric figures will be in place across the school Easter holidays until 14th April 2024.
Families can also enjoy a whole host of dinosaur themed events and activities taking place.
They also include a Dinormous Egg Hunt, where you can hunt out huge chocolate Easter eggs hidden around town.
Activity maps can be followed online, printed at home, or picked up from Sainsbury’s, Primark, ASDA, Marks and Spencer Café, or The Atkinson.
They are a great reason for visiting Southport town centre and its many shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, hotels and other local businesses this Easter.
Visitors can enjoy seeing some of the brick-built dinosaurs close-up at Lord Street Gardens, which is being transformed into ‘Prehistoric Park’ for the duration of the DinoTown event.
Further models are being displayed at stores and internal locations around Southport town centre, including Marks and Spencer, TK Maxx, and Wayfarers Arcade.
Budding dinosaur rangers are now tasked with discovering facts and figures about the beasts. Those who complete the set will have the opportunity to enter a competition and win prizes.
‘Dino-Selfie Zones’ are in place at ASDA and Silcock’s Flavours Ice Cream Parlour, where visitors can pose with brick models and enter further competitions to win Dino-themed prizes.
There is also plenty of other dinosaur-themed events and activities taking place in businesses across Southport town centre. Keep an eye out for dino-workshops, character shows, colouring competitions, and much more.
