With approximately seven thousand suicides in the UK every year there is more need than ever for support, whether that being a listening ear or someone to talk to.
Suicide is not something that hits out at any one type of person, it can come knocking on anyone’s door at any time of day or night. Helping massively to wash out the stigma of suffering in silence, Stamp Out Suicide are a UK charity that provide free counselling to anyone living in England, Scotland and Wales with suicidal thoughts.
Founder of the charity, Colm Farrell set up the organisation in 2015 with just one counsellor, since then Stamp Out Suicide have grown to a team of fourteen counsellors, all fully qualified and registered to the relevant authorities. The service is available from 16 hours a day from 10.00am until 2.00am all year round, aiming to support as many people as possible listening and providing free ongoing counselling over the phone helping people get through their darkest moments.
Any support is absolutely more than welcome and with a lot of support to the charity coming from events, the annual Cheltenham Festival Preview Evening will be taking place at the newly opened Punch Tarmeys located at the ever-popular Cain’s Brewery. Tickets are priced at £10.00 per person and includes a buffet supper and special guest appearances from top jockeys Sam Twiston Davies (via phone), Tom Bellamy and Jamie Bargary.
