With headquarters in Liverpool’s beautiful Calderstones Park, The Reader is transforming the derelict Mansion House into The International Centre for Shared Reading – a community hub based around reading, well-being, the site’s rich heritage and the magnificent green space offered by the park. The Reader are building a place where people can get involved, feel connected and access employment, volunteering and training opportunities.

Already established at Calderstones Park, The Reader Café, Ice Cream Parlour and the wonderful children’s, interactive story centre. The Storybarn has already created a much-loved hub of activity for regular park-users and visitors from across the city, the North West and beyond.  Here are some events happening at the Storybarn to attend and enjoy.

The Storyhunters New Discoveries

In 2018 The Storyhunters are in search of New Discoveries! We’ll be reading brand-new stories published in the last year, learning new things and embarking on exciting adventures with new Storybarn objects to inspire our own stories. What will you find? Join us for a part interactive theatre, part literature-based experience where you’ll all become Storyhunters. During Winter we’ll just be inside, so come in from the cold for an adventure in the heart of Liverpool’s Calderstones Park.

Each £4 ticket is valid for a single admission, i.e. a parent and child visiting will require two tickets. Younger siblings under 12 months do not require an additional ticket.

To avoid disappointment, advance booking is recommended as capacity is limited. Simply select your number of tickets and your arrival time in the calendar below to book your ticket. If no times show up for your selected day it means that day is fully booked. Tickets can be booked up to 30 minutes in advance. Walk up tickets are usually available on the day.

Storyhunters adventures run at 12noon and 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays. CLICK HERE to book your visit!

Incy Wincy Rhymers

Join us for Incy Wincy Rhymers, carefully crafted sessions for you and your little ones. We’ll explore classic stories, family favourites and nursery rhymes through storytelling and sing-a-longs.

You’ll discover new rhymes, enjoy creative exploration and take-home crafts with a tea or coffee included for accompanying adults.

Incy Wincy Rhymers sessions run every Friday at 10am, 11.30am and 2pm, Saturday at 10am and Sunday at 10am. Each session lasts approximately 70 minutes.
