Due to the success of its flagship climbing wall, which has received more than 100,000 customers, The Climbing Hangar is opening its second Liverpool site on the Matchworks estate in Speke on Sunday 29th March.

The all-new 11,200 sq foot indoor climbing centre is an upgrade on the existing Birchall Street venue. It will feature a bright and comfortable cafe and licensed bar with views of the climbing facility, serving a variety of fresh, ethically sourced food and great, local coffee. The new venue will also boast hang out spaces, kids’ climbing and training facilities for those aged four and over, and free onsite parking. Furthermore, the site will create more than 20 new jobs in the South Liverpool area.

Brand new climbs will be created at the site every single week, to ensure that there is always something new and interesting to try, regardless of climbing ability or experience. Several of the site’s original climbs are being set by British number one and former bouldering world champion, Shauna Coxsey, who is a Hangar ambassador.

To celebrate the launch of its fifth site in the UK, The Climbing Hangar has announced a £5 climbing offer to first time signups*, valid until 1st May as well as a pre-opening membership which allows unlimited use of all facilities for just £26.99 per month.

All members will also be invited to participate in an exclusive pre-opening event on 28th March, allowing them to be among the first to climb and experience all the new Matchworks venue has to offer.

Ged Macdomhnaill, founder of The Climbing Hangar, said: “Liverpool was our first ever site so it was only natural to return to the heart of the Hangar for the next evolution of the Hangar brand. The design of our climbing facilities has not only improved over almost a decade, but also adapted to meet the needs of our growing local community.

“We understand that as well as our long-standing climbing enthusiasts, we’re also welcoming more families and friendship groups through the door, looking for a new adrenaline fix or even just a fun bonding experience for the family photo album or Instagram. This is why the quality of our social spaces and cafe has specifically been enhanced.

“The owners of Matchworks and award-winning regeneration specialists, Urban Splash, have been really instrumental in bringing our vision for it to be more than just a climbing wall to life, providing a great setting with an abundance of space for our new bouldering experience.”
