Theatres of The Liverpool City Region

Liverpool and its Regions have an amazing reputation for top theatres and playhouses. With theatres around the city and it’s regions showcasing great talents and some spectacular shows/plays, heres a list of the many playhouses to pay a visit.

Everyman Theatre & Liverpool Playhouse

Theatres of The Liverpool City Region

Standing tall at the north end of Hope Street, the Everyman Theatre was founded in 1964. The theatre is managed alongside Liverpool Playhouse by Liverpool and Merseyside Theatres Trust. These amazing theatres aim to develop the playwrights and artists who will represent the city’s unique talent, voice and energy. Shows coming up this year are The Jungle Book, A Clockwork Orange and Roald Dahls George’s marvellous medicine.

Liverpool Empire Theatre

Lime Street, Liverpool, L1 1JE

Theatres of The Liverpool City Region

Known as one of the most famous theatres in Liverpool, the Liverpool Empire is located on Lime Street. The Empire was built on the site of the Prince of Wales Theatre and Opera House and is the largest 2 tier theatre in Britain. This major touring entertainment venue offers the best in west end musicals, ballet, plays, children’s productions, concerts and comedy. Hosting many shows this year such as Wicked, Shrek The Musical and Thriller Live .

Royal Court Liverpool

1 Roe Street, Liverpool, L1 1HL

Located on Roe Street, The Royal Court Theatre was built in 1938. The Playhouse offers a dinning in your seat experience before the show performance. With performances from some of the city’s top professional actors, high quality entertainment is provided at The Royal Court. Producing eight shows a year, (4-6 week shows), witness shows such as Council Depot Blues, Liver Birds Flying Home and MAM! I’M ERE.

Floral Pavilion Theatre 

Marine Promenade, New Brighton, Wirral, CH45 2JS

The Floral Pavilion is situated on the Promenade overlooking the river Mersey in New Brighton. The original theatre opened in 1913 as an open-air summer theatre within the Victoria gardens. The theatre presents a mixture of music, comedy and children’s shows. Catch shows such as The Take That Experience, Beauty and the Beast and Cirque Berserk! Circus made for theatre.

Southport Theatre 

The Promenade, Southport, PR9 0DZ

The Southport Theatre & Convention Centre is one of the largest and most flexible multi purpose venues in Merseyside. The contemporary theatre and convention space stages entertainment, events and functions. With previous performances from talents such as Diana Ross, The Four Tops, Peter Kay and The Beatles to name a few! Up and coming shows at the venue this year are The Billy Fury Story, All Star American Wrestling, Russell Watson and many more.
