Try out some Indian Folk Dance moves with Milap’s new Associate Artist Sheetal Maru

In Milap’s next series of ‘Try it Out’ sessions, the UK’s leading Indian Arts & Culture company will be teaming up with Movema to explore a variety of different North Indian Folk dance styles, such as Dandiya, Ghoomar, Daang Raas, Matli Dance, Garba and Tipnee.

Milap and Movema’s Associate Artist, Sheetal Maru will give participants a great, fun workout, an introduction to authentic Indian Dance styles and help towards wellbeing and sense of community.

What you need to know

  • Six sessions of FREE introductory Indian folk dancing delivered over six weeks!
  • Tune in for the first session on Facebook LIVE on Monday 1st June 2020, 6pm.
  • Facebook LIVE videos will pop up each week on the Milapfest and Movema pages.
  • ALL LEVELS AND ABILITIES welcome, with a mixture of both gentle and up-tempo movements.

These brand new sessions have been designed by Milap to give the public an opportunity to try out an Indian dance or music style from the comfort of their own home.

Suitable for anyone and with no previous experience or training required, in these sessions participants will be able to explore a vast variety of art forms from Bhangra and Bharatanatyam to Garba (Gujurati Folk Dance) and even Ghazal singing!

PLUS: Milap’s Bhangra ‘Try it Out’ sessions are already underway – take part each Thursday night at 7pm, on Facebook LIVE until 18th June!
