‘Tune In With Katumba’: a free, digital multi-arts project, offering free online drumming and more for all ages, funded by the Arts Council England. Learn to compose, drum, move and create – from home!Â
Inclusion and diversity, and making the benefits of music and movement available to all, are at the heart of Katumba’s ethos. Therefore, Katumba wants to invite everyone to come together and experience the power of making music together! Using upcycled household items, Katumba showed you last week how to build – or source – your own percussive instrument and will teach you this week how to play a tune.
This Wednesday 10th June, Katumba will reveal the tune that the public helped compose with the words expressing what ‘Life After Lockdown’ meant to them. With the sheer abundance of words they received, the team at Katumba created a powerful percussion piece.

Ritchie Tunstall, Musical Director at Katumba, said:
“It’s been really inspiring working with the words everyone sent in and turning them into a ‘Life After Lockdown’ beat. I can’t wait to get  started with the online sessions, teaching it to everyone and seeing them all play together!’
A recording of the Live Stream will stay on Katumba’s YouTube channel and will be followed by interactive rehearsals on Zoom during the month of June, starting on Wednesday 17th June. Everyone’s welcome to join!
Using cutting-edge multi-camera and sound technology, the drumming will be easily accessible with options for everyone from total beginners to more advanced drummers. More details on the Live Stream can be found HERE https://www.facebook.com/events/557075444953835/
