A new Pre-Apprenticeship Programme launching this May will provide young people with a route in to an exciting career in hospitality.
Wirral Met College is partnering with LEAF to deliver a new programme dedicated to helping young people aged 16 to 24 gain the critical skills needed to progress onto an apprenticeship in the hospitality industry.
There are a total of 15 trainee chef positions available across LEAF’s venues across the Liverpool City Region including their function and event venues Oh Me, Oh My and One Fine Day.
Over the course of 10 weeks, trainees will gain valuable industry experience, develop their English, maths and digital skills, whilst learning how to prepare for work by improving communication and interview skills.
Phil Mackenzie, Group Executive Chef of LEAF, Oh Me, Oh My and One Fine Day said
“Traineeships give local young people the opportunity to get that first step on to the career ladder and we hope that the trainees will flourish with LEAF and become an integral part of our team.”
Trainees will be provided with support towards travel and uniform costs and upon completion of the programme, will be given the opportunity to apply for an apprenticeship in their chosen discipline to receive further industry training from their new employer and the College.
Applications are now open and due to the limited number of positions available, those interested are encouraged to apply online to course code F017M026 as soon as possible before the deadline on Wednesday 28th April.
There will be a virtual information session on Thursday the 29th of April at 10.30am for applicants to attend and learn more about the positions available.
