Are you a young individual seeking a career in animation, graphic design, or the arts? Or are you a gifted artist hoping to express yourself? Applications for Wirral Metropolitan College’s fascinating Illustration with Animation Degree programme will be accepted through September 2024.
In the first year of the three-year Illustration with Animation Degree programme, students study a variety of illustration and animation topics; in years two and three, they focus on their area of interest. The three-year BA Hons programme runs from September to June for three days a week, which makes it perfect for students who want to study while working a part-time job. Students who meet the requirements can also apply for a student loan.
The creative course at Birkenhead College, which is housed in state-of-the-art design studios, can lead to a successful career in a variety of fields, including animation, graphic design, illustration, and art. It’s an interesting and varied course that combines lectures, seminars, frequent one-on-one tutorial sessions, briefings, reviews, and critiques given by a group of creative academic staff members.
The first year covers an exciting mix of subjects before students go on to focus on their speciality, which could be animation, graphic design, art, or illustration. It’s an excellent chance to expand your knowledge and abilities before deciding on your desired field of study to finish your degree, covering everything from life drawing and external visits to the history and theory of art.

“The beauty of this course is its diversity and you can develop some new artistic skills in addition to your specialist area. The courses are intimate, with around 10 students each term, and we’ve had some amazing success stories — with students going on to enjoy their dream creative careers in art, illustration, graphic design, branding, animation and more.”
Current students will host a massive three-week exhibition of art and photography at The Liver Building starting on Friday, May 10, 2024, as part of their degree programme.
Graduate Hazel Lawton said:
“Before I joined this course, animation was just a dream to me and I had no idea how to go about learning the basic steps or how to get or use most software you need to be an animator. This course has helped me become closer to my dream and I feel lucky to have been part of it.”
Anyone over 19 who has five GCSEs in Grades 9–4 or A*–C is eligible to enrol in the course. Mature students who may not have the necessary qualifications but can show they are suitable to study at this level are welcome to apply; there have been students on the course who are as old as 78. The University of Chester certifies the degree, which is £8340 a year with available student loans and, in certain situations, fully funded courses.
Because there are fewer cohorts in the course, students receive more one-on-one help from the teachers on their projects, resulting in the highest calibre instruction. People from all walks of life are welcome to apply, as they accommodate a wide range of learning needs.
