Belzan to welcome John Chantarasak and his AngloThai popup into the kitchen.
In 2017 when the now much loved Belzan was just getting started, the neighbourhood restaurant welcomed John Chantarasak and the very first of his AngloThai popups – a brand that’s since travelled the globe, cooking with some of the world’s best chefs to huge critical acclaim.
Now, five years on, Chantarasak will be returning, taking over the Belzan kitchen for one night only.
John Chantarasak, Author of Kin Thai, is a half Thai, half British chef, based in London. After training at Le Cordon Bleu in Bangkok, John worked in the kitchens of David Thompson, whose restaurant Nahm is one of the most highly regarded Thai restaurants in the world.
His reputation has grown through numerous sell-out popups and residencies across the UK, Europe, North America and South East Asia.
On Tuesday 28th February, Chantarasak will take to the Belzan kitchen serving up a six course menu:
Five Spiced Devilled Egg & Caviar
Carlingford Oysters & Rhubarb Nahm Jim
Fermented Pork Rib & Laab Spice
Grilled Hispi, Hazelnut & Scallop Roe Chilli Jam
Orkney Scallop & Sunflower Seed Satay
40 Day Aged Beef & Wild Leek Green Curry
Sharpham Spelt, Long Pepper & Bone Marrow
Fermented Rice Pudding & Mango Sorbet
Sesame Choux, Nut Caramel & Makrut Lime
Commented Chris Edwards, Co-founder of Belzan:
“To us, John is family. He was the first person to ever join us for a pop up back in 2017 and even introduced us to our future business partner Nud Dudhia with whom we started our other restaurant, MADRE. He has shown us love and support over many years and we can’t wait to welcome him and his unbelievable food to our very humble kitchen.”
The menu is priced at £85pp. Tables can be booked via www.belzan.co.uk.
The menu served for the night is a set menu and therefore on this occasion Belzan can not cater to those with special dietary requirements.
