End of Year Pub Quiz announced by Melodic Distraction

Melodic Distraction announce their End of Year Pub Quiz in support of their campaign to help them move to a brand-new permanent studio space in 2021.

Taking place on Tuesday 15th December at Liverpool’s 24 Kitchen Street, their End Of Year Pub Quiz is all set to bring a fitting end to the year.

Simply being able to come together and have a bit of fun, whilst raising money as they push toward their £35k target, feels really important right now, along with the chance to win prizes – including a fabulous Dr. Martens gift bag, a year’s supply of coffee and some select MD merch. This is nearly a year since their last festive pub quiz and a great way to help the community-led station toward their goal, with the fundraising deadline on Thursday 17th December.

As well as potentially winning some, there will also be the chance to buy some special Melodic Distraction merchandise at the quiz, including corduroy 6 panel hats, T-shirts, Community Tea towels, Kickstarter Post cards, Sticker packs and refreshments. All in all perfect for some last-minute Christmas gifts. There will also be a raffle too with some great prizes which will be revealed soon.

Broadcasting the myriad sounds of the city since being founded by Josh Aitman and James Zaremba in 2017, the independent Melodic Distraction have already embarked on a blitz of fundraising activities. This includes one-off broadcasts reuniting station alumni, a limited-edition zine and a huge Lucky Dig vinyl raffle featuring donations from some of Liverpool’s most loved institutions, DJs and bands, including Crazy P, Yousef (Circus Recordings) and Greg Wilson. Every penny now counts to reach their target.

The proposed site for their permanent new home is within the Tapestry building in Liverpool’s up-and-coming Fabric District. Reaching their fundraising goal would allow them to relocate to two shipping containers at the venue – one to house the radio station and the other to provide a community space and coffee shop – alongside a courtyard with outdoor seating for year-round events once permitted again. The station has committed to prioritising, supporting and where necessary, subsidising, the space for grassroots music and local community organisations.

The event will take place between 7pm – 9pm, priced at £5 per person (available via skiddle and bought as a group)
Each person must also buy an Iranian Mezze meal of £6 OTD
