Southport’s King’s Gardens has retained its Green Flag and has been named one of 2216 UK winners.

The international award, now in its third decade, serves as a reminder to the public that the space meets the highest environmental standards, is well-maintained, and offers excellent visitor amenities.

Friends of Rotten Row and South Park Community Garden have also received Green Flag Community Awards.

The achievement of accreditation, the international quality mark for parks and greenspaces, is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Green Sefton team and fantastic network of volunteers who make Sefton’s greenspaces a great space for everyone to enjoy.

Cllr Ian Moncur, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health & Wellbeing, said:

“We are delighted to receive Green Flag Awards across the borough once again.

“Having quality green spaces is very important to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining all of them to such a high standard.

“As well as having a great network of volunteers, we have also put a lot into bringing together our dedicated Green Sefton team which work to ensure a joined up approach to the management, development and oversight of our beautiful coastline, parks and green spaces for years to come.”

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
