Preparations are well underway on a spectacular programme of events in Knowsley, as the area becomes our ‘Borough of Culture’ for 2022.
The borough is set to host a year long list of activities and events including the opening of The Shakespeare North Playhouse, the return of the Knowsley Flower Show, mass participation event celebrating sport and much more!
Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council added:
“Next year, we will be celebrating everything about culture here in Knowsley. It’s not just about art or theatre – its sport, comedy, food, and much more. All the things we love and that make our place and our lives so special.
“There will be some really exciting things to look forward to, with large-scale events and special moments across the whole year. Our year of celebration could not come at a better time with our flagship Shakespearean theatre opening in Prescot and everyone so desperate to socialise and enjoy life again after such an incredibly difficult 18 months.”
Knowsley Police Inspector Peter Rexwinkel said:
“It is a great honour to be a part of the area named the ‘Borough of Culture’ for 2022 and we hope our communities feel equally as proud. It has been a challenging few years for us all but we have seen people come together, keep one another safe and continue to assist us in reporting and deterring crime to ensure Knowsley stays a desirable and safe place to be.”
A dedicated website www.cultureknowsley.co.uk has been launched where the public can visit all year round for information on what events to expect next.
