LCR Pride Foundation has opened registrations for March with Pride 2022 – the first large-scale in-person event delivered by the Liverpool City Region’s LGBT+ charity since 2019.

In July 2019, the year prior to the pandemic, March with Pride saw more than 12,000 members of the city region’s LGBT+ community and its allies come together to march in solidarity, celebration and protest against the prejudice and inequalities faced by LGBT+ people in the UK and across the globe.

Both the 2020 and 2021 March with Pride and Pride in Liverpool events were cancelled due to the pandemic, with LCR Pride Foundation instead staging a virtual MarchOnline, comprising videos of individuals marching, cheering and holding placards in their own homes and workplaces, which reached over 2 million people.

Speaking of the return of March with Pride for 2022, Andi Herring, CEO and Co-Founder of LCR Pride Foundation, said:

“Pride has always been a protest and that is why Liverpool City Region’s march remains the centrepiece of our annual event.

“While we are excited to physically come together in the spirit of celebration for the first time in almost three years, we will also march to highlight and protest the discrimination, danger and inequality that the LGBT+ community is facing in the UK and beyond.

“Recent events, with the exclusion of Trans and Non-Binary people from the government’s conversion practices ban and the Prime Minister’s own comments around Trans peoples’ right to access in single-sex spaces and sports, show that the many are still seeking to create divisions within our community and there is much still to protest about.

“When we come together in July, we will show that we are unified and we will march against prejudice, inequality and LGBT+-phobia in all its forms.”

March with Pride 2022 will mark the start of the city’s Pride celebrations, with LCR Pride Foundation set to reveal more information in coming weeks. Registrations for concession stands are also now open online (lcrpride.co.uk/trade/) and artists interested in performing at Pride in Liverpool can contact the team via lcrpride.co.uk/perform/

Individuals wishing to take part in the March with Pride should register online by Friday 15th July at lcrpride.co.uk/march/
