Looking for a great family day out on your next visit to Southport? Then take a trip to the Southport Model Railway Village, a spectacular attraction consisting of beautiful vistas and fabulous panoramic views of the miniature landscape and railway layout.
Loved by all ages since 1996, Southport Model Railway Village has attracted hundreds of thousands of families and model train enthusiasts from all over the world. Based upon typical southwest Lancashire architecture the site consists of a country scene, village and town. Movement is generated by one of the largest 45mm garden railway systems in the UK.
All family members can enjoy following their favorite model train as it meanders around the 1.5 acres of beautiful miniature landscape. The 1:18 scale attraction features architectural styles from all over Merseyside and South West Lancashire. Each building was designed and constructed on site and supported by an in-house manufacturing base, which supplied miniature resin items such as doors, windows roofing sections and not forgetting miniature people.
The site has been designed for easy access for wheelchairs and double buggies and includes a tastefully laid-out Teashop and Gardens with full Toilet facilities for the disabled. With plenty of bench recesses, the venue is ideal for the perfect picnic or even just unwinding and enjoying the peace and tranquility the place has to offer.
Season runs from Saturday 6th April to Sunday 29th September, opening times are dependent on weather and operating conditions, as they do not operate the trains in very heavy rain or high winds. To check on the day please contact Southport Model Railway Village 01704 538001.
