Set to be Southport’s newest hot spot destination, The Potting Shed is set to launch this June. Originally best known as one of the regions landmark pubs, The Sandgrounder on the popular Lord Street has now been transformed into a Potting Shed Bar & Gardens on the ground floor, FIREPIT Smokehouse & Sports Bar on the first floor and a huge roof garden with retractable roof and function room.
Potting Shed Bar & Gardens offers a quirky outdoors-to-indoors garden theme, specialising in craft beers, cocktails and artisan spirits, and freshly homemade food. Whilst the FIREPIT has an Americana décor incorporating classic car parts, neon signage and a custom-built Airstream-style aluminium caravan for private booth dining. Its menu focuses on signature US-style dishes from an in-house smoker and wood-burning grill, served alongside an extensive selection of house cocktails, beers and spirits. Sports are shown throughout the FIREPIT and the main screen is a huge 4 x 2 metre LED wall.
Concept bar specialists Ormsborough Ltd, which already owns and operates five Potting Sheds and two FIREPITs in Yorkshire, took over the building last autumn. Since then it has spent a total of £2.6million creating its first site housing the two bars under one roof.
Operations manager Jade Renner says the two will bring something new and exciting to Southport’s busy bar scene.
“We put a lot of thought and time into devising menus and décor for both and, after months of working on the site, we’re really looking forward to being able to show off the results.
“The two concepts have been highly successful in other areas so we’re confident they’re going to be very well received here and customers get two options in one plus the roof terrace which will be amazing in summer.”
The place offers two very different looks and ambience, but we are sure that the venue is going to be a smash hit on the local Southport drinking scene. Whether your visit be for al fresco drinking and food, or a social gathering, The Potting Shed is one to be added to your list of places to head when next in the area.
