The trailer has now been released for English Director and Producer Ridley Scott’s ‘The Last Duel’ starring Liverpool’s very own Jodie Comer.

The upcoming English movie sees Comer casted alongside Hollywood stars Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Adam Driver as the lead characters.

The story is based on Eric Jager’s 2004 book The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France, which outlines the real-life events of the last officially recognised judicial duel fought in France.

Set in 14th century France, the dramatic and brutal film captures  Killing Eve actress Comer as Marguerite de Carrouges, a “good wife” to her husband, knight Jean de Carrouges (Bourne star Matt Damon).

The teaser clip shows Marguerite encounter squire Jacques LeGris (Star Wars actor Driver) before an incident appears to occur between them.

Marguerite later tells her husband that Jacques forcibly entered their home and attacked her, before Count Pierre d’Alençon (Justice League‘s Ben Affleck) informs Jacques that “an unspeakable charge” has been brought against him – something which Jacques denies.

To resolve the matter Jean and Jacques agree to duel each other to the death, despite the fact that Jean is warned that if he loses it would have “dire consequences” for his wife.

The movie follows on From Jodie Comer’s successful stint as everybody’s favourite bad guy character ‘Villianelle’ in the show Killing Eve, which has won the loveable scouser a well derserved BAFTA award.

The Last Duel will be released across UK cinemas from 15th October 2021.
