Tranmere Rovers fans have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for a dream trip to Prenton Park for their superfan, Iddrisu Ismael.

Iddrisu, who lives in Ghana, fell in love with the football club after seeing how they helped their local community during the pandemic.

He said “I can remember during the lockdown what Tranmere had done to its community it was marvellous. They shared food, clothes, nose masks, sanitisers to their community members.”

Showing his love and support for Tranmere, Iddrisu has become something of a favourite amongst the Super White Army (SWA) fanbase.

Tranmere fans set up Gofund.me to fund dream trip for Ghanaian superfan

The SWA fan made an appearance on Twitter showing his support for the team interacting with other fans when match results were coming in, with his dream to watch the game live.

With fans from the clubs interacting across social media sharing their stories and love of the game, Iddrisu has been blown away with the response.

Tranmere Rovers fans showed their support by sending club shirts and books about the club’s history over as gifts to the superfan. Iddrisu commented saying “For me to hang on this shirt on my neck, is something… dream come true for me”

Fans started to joke about possibly setting up a crowd funder to get Iddrisu over to the UK to watch a match once fans are allowed back in the stadium.

The idea has now been made a reality with the Gofund.me target set at a £3,000 target, which will cover enough funds for Iddrisu’s plane tickets, a hotel for the week and some spends to enjoy his stay.

So far, the campaign has raised over £1,500 of its target which was organised by Richard Davies.
