Mary Rasmussen, the Lord Mayor for Liverpool, will officially switch-on the Church Street Christmas tree lights on Thursday 25 November.

Cllr Rasmussen will be joined by Jacki Howarth, Private Sector Housing Enforcement Support Officer, who was chosen to pick Liverpool’s official Christmas tree after winning the very first council staff competition dubbed ‘Mission Christmas’.

The competition was to find the most festive council worker and Jacki’s submission came out on top. She told the judges that she still looks forward to Christmas, despite experiencing a family bereavement at Christmas two years ago. Jacqui chose the tree from the Christmas Tree Farm in the West Midlands, a few weeks ago.

At around 4:45pm, the countdown will begin and 14,000 (low energy LED) lights will be turned on to reveal the 55ft Norwegian Spruce plus 400 baubles, in all its glory.
