Now in its 10th year, Small Business Saturday UK takes places on Saturday 3rd December with the event encouraging consumers to ‘shop local’ and support businesses in their communities.
To help celebrate and showcase small businesses across Liverpool city centre, the Liverpool BID Company are calling on people to support small businesses ranging from retailers, venues, shops, eateries and more.
Small Business Saturday has been created to celebrate and support small businesses across the globe. On Small Business Saturday customers across the UK go out and support all types of small businesses – online, in offices and in stores. Many small businesses take part on the day by hosting events and offering promotions or discounts.

Liverpool BID offers business support to many independent businesses across Liverpool’s High Street, Castle Street, Bold Street, Metquarter and St John’s Shopping Centre. As well as supporting businesses, Liverpool BID strive to make the city safer, cleaner and more connective.

Looking for ways you can support? Venues perfect to shop at on Small Business Saturday include Bold Street’s firm favourite Mattas International Foods, home to fresh Arabic, African, Indian and Caribbean quality products. Liverpool’s News from Nowhere, a not-for-profit radical & community bookshop, which also offers world, folk and roots music CDS and magazines. Utility located on Bold Street has an huge array of gifts and greeting cards, perfect ahead of the festive season.

Independent bars and eateries to visit during Small Business Saturday and beyond include Castle Street’s stylish Iberian wine bar, BoBo, teashop and bar LEAF located on Bold Street, independent music, food and drink venue Jimmy’s, and small plates favourites Maray.
If you’re planning on starting you’re Christmas shopping early, locations such as Metquarter and St John’s Shopping Centre cater for all your gift ideas, from clothing, perfume to jewellery.
Shoppers can use the hashtag #SmallBusinessSaturday by posting on Twitter and Instagram to show their support. Support can also be shown by leaving reviews online for local businesses.
