Jazz lovers in Merseyside are in for a delightful experience as two high-energy jazz performances are set to take place in Wirral within a month’s time. These shows are brought to you by Events 471, a progressive and innovative event company that has made a big statement with these top bookings. Expect to be blown away by wild, frenzied, and funky rhythms that are sure to keep you grooving throughout the performances.

Renowned drummer Anika Nilles, who is considered to be among the best in the world, will be making her UK debut with her band Nevell prior to an incredible sold-out performance at Ronnie Scott’s. She will host a jazz showcase at 8.30 p.m. at Nevell and a drumming workshop at 6 p.m. (seating available). She is a force to be reckoned with; she recently toured with Grammy Award-winning guitarist and legend Jeff Beck. On Monday, April 8, she will be at Future Yard.

She skillfully blends virtuosity with catchy melodies to create a masterfully inventive blend of jazz, funk, and progressive elements with her band, Nevell. Nevell engages the audience in a lyrical journey through many turns and turns, engaging them in a lighthearted musical conversation as they go, culminating in a performance that is sure to leave an impression on everyone.

American jazz fusion legends Everything Yes are scheduled to perform at the Wirral venue on Thursday, May 2, as if that booking wasn’t spectacular enough. Lead by the mysterious drummer Zack Graybeal, who is well-known on his platforms as Zack Grooves, these dynamic and fast-paced trailblazers will wow the audience!

Led by the incredibly gifted 5-piece jazz fusion group’s drummer, Zack Grooves, who has gained widespread recognition for his skill, drumming is considered to be one of the most captivating live jazz bands in the United States. Anyone familiar with jazz music will recognise what a great booking this is for Birkenhead.

Jazz fans should give Events 471 credit for these excellent bookings, as they are doing fantastic work pairing up major international acts with up-and-coming local performers at Wirral venues. They are bringing a wide variety of genres to the area and, by taking an ethical approach, they are also assisting in the growth of local bands and artists. They’re doing well, as evidenced by the more than 2,000 tickets they sold for 17 events in their first year.

“We are trying to keep our offering as diverse as possible, covering all genres, whilst giving local artists and bands the opportunity to flourish and express themselves too. In terms of these particular bookings, we’re proud to be bringing such big hitters of the jazz scene to Birkenhead!”

He continued:

“We also have regular jazz and poetry nights at Start Yard in Birkenhead, just around the corner from Future Yard. On the first Wednesday of every month we showcase top local jazz acts and Wordsmithery events on the third Wednesday — the evenings have gone down really well. It’s been a great start to 2024 so far and we have a diverse programme of events lined up — with something for everyone.”
