Students from The City of Liverpool College will have the opportunity to cook alongside some of the city’s finest chefs, curating and serving up a tasting menu at the inaugural ‘Collective Dinner’ on March 29th

The Collective Dinner is the brainchild of chef and Liverpool Food Network member Eddie Kilty of Kilty & Co, a former student of the college. Joining Eddie on the night will be fellow chefs Josh Lundon from Skaus, Liv Alarcon from Queens, Nathan Booth of Panoramic34 and Michael O’Donohoe from London Carriage Works.

Chefs and students will work together to serve a selection of canapes, starters, mains and desserts at the college’s recently refurbished Academy Restaurant. The evening will be presented by another Liverpool Food Network member – Liam Jones, host of An Hour With An Indie podcast – and each course will be sponsored by a local business involved in supporting hospitality including Wellocks, Caterite, Pilla and Liverpool Food Network.

Chef Eddie Kilty says:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the next generation of chefs to learn from those who’ve gone before them. The local chefs we have working on the night are ex-students of the college so they appreciate the hard work that the students put in, and are keen to be involved as mentors.”

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to So Let’s Talk, a platform which serves to support hospitality workers with all aspects of mental, physical and financial health.

“There is currently a national shortage of Chefs, and employees across the hospitality industry are increasingly struggling to balance their demanding roles with taking care of their own mental health” says Eddie. “So Let’s Talk are working together with industry leaders to support chefs, bartenders, hosts and managers across the North West. We hope that the evening will be a great opportunity to showcase what hospitality has to offer and promote our fantastic industry to the next generation.”

Liverpool Food Network founder Louise Kissack says:

“We’re delighted to be sponsoring The Collective Dinner, and we’re excited to be part of the first event of its type in Liverpool. Bringing five local chefs together to create an evening of great food and entertainment is going to be something very special.”

Tickets are available from www.anhourwithanindie.com/events/the-collective-dinner and are expected to sell out fast.
