Murphy’s Gin announce new Distillery & Bar heading to Regent Road

Creators of premium gin business Murphy’s Gin, are set to bring their new concept Murphy’s Distillery & Bar to Regent Road.

The indoor bar which is due to open in May will seat up to 150, with the bar and distillery occupying the same space giving customers the opportunity to see first hand where the gin is made.

The team are currently working on an outdoor courtyard which will open for the first time on 17th April and will give visitors a chance to taste the brands unique gin.

Murphy’s Gin which initially launched back in 2019, took on the premises located in the Ten Streets area due to the growing demand of their gin products. New to the industry, the creation from three brothers Simon, Mark, Terry and their wives Jackie, Lianne, Lyndsey is set to be a sure fire hit on Regent Road especially more so with the announcement of Everton Football Club’s new stadium being built a stone throw away.

The brand celebrates its name from their Irish ancestors, William and Bridget (also the name of two of the copper stils) who came to Liverpool and entered the city through the very same dock gates that sit directly opposite the distillery and bar. There is also a little green plaque on the dock wall there, paying tribute to those that passed through those gates from Ireland.

A fresh concept the venue will be bringing is the plan to make limited edition gins every month exclusively to serve in the bar which you can’t purchase anywhere else. Given customers the chance to try something new when visiting, the limited edition gins will not be sold by the bottle.

The team have also announced they will be launching their own premium vodka when they open, which will be named Ten Streets Vodka in tribute to their new home and neighbours.

Aside from gin, Murphy’s are working alongside Brewdog for the venues draught to be added to the menu, where there will also be the options of cocktails such as the ‘Bridget Spritz’, ‘Clarence‘ and ‘Once upon a time in Wexford’.

One of Murphy’s creators, Terry Murphy said:

“We are hoping to offer Liverpool and the Merseyside area something a bit different and we don’t believe there’s anything like what we plan to offer, with such a strong back story too. Aside from making our own gin and vodka and having limited editions each month, our customers can sit in our distillery whilst enjoying a drink of our gin made in the stils on display.

“At the same time we will have live music on every day we are open, and we will be working with a small selection of local street food vendors who will take a space in our courtyard. We will have a different vendor each weekend, on a rotational basis.

“We will also eventually be offering customers the chance to come and make their own gin with us. This is all summed up by the words on the Murphy’s coat of arms, ‘fortis et hospitalis‘ meaning Brave and Hospitable. This features on one of our walls.”

Murphy’s Distillery & Bar will be looking at working alongside other local companies to try to promote the best of the city, ranging from hosting different events, history tours of the local area/docks, record fairs and art exhibitions.

In the meantime the venue currently has three premium gins available to buy which can be stocked in bars, restaurants, hotels and shops in Liverpool and beyond. Premium gins include the teams award winning London Dry gin, pomegranate & kaffir lime leaf gin and orange & passion fruit gin. Made in the distillery with natural ingredients and no added sugars, all gins are vegan friendly too.
