Due to repair work being undertaken to the track and platform at Kirkby station, the station will be closed temporarily and no services will be running to or from Kirkby.
The latest update from Network Rail is that track repair work at Kirkby station is progressing well and will continue throughout the weekend. We are hopeful that Kirkby line services will resume from start of service Monday 22 March and a full update will be provided on Sunday afternoon. Anyone wishing to travel from Kirkby station should use the rail replacement bus service, which will call at Fazakerley station and then call at Aintree station where you can continue your journey towards Liverpool by train.
Passengers wishing to travel to Kirkby from Liverpool should board Ormskirk services to Aintree station where a rail replacement bus is in operation calling at Fazakerley and Kirkby stations.
Anyone travelling to Rice Lane should travel on the Ormskirk line to Walton station and complete their journey on foot to Rice Lane.
Passengers who start their journey at Rice Lane are advised to use Walton station instead.

Alternatively passengers with valid rail tickets can travel on Stagecoach services.
